"Necessity is the mother of invention" - Plato

The Established Leaders' Society was formed as the result of a certain void at VCU. It was felt that most of all organizations at VCU offered limited opportunity, if any. However, with over 30,000 students aspiring to achieve greatness in various fields, we saw that the opportunities were limitless. By bringing the strongest of those individuals together, we saw that the possibilities were infinite. Finally, under the right systems and structure, we saw that the potential of such a force would be boundless. We were formed to utilize that potential stored at VCU and the Richmond community; by forming a fellowship amongst the strongest individuals of these communities together with the goal of creating and enhancing businesses as well as bringing a positive and long lasting economic and social impact amongst all that are involved.

The idea for the society was actually inspired by the result of a successful dealing between the founder, Kwaku Osei and a close friend. As the story goes, "We had just finished giving advice to a restaurant in Washington, DC called Penn Cafe, when a close friend developed a great idea for a new company. After a lot of thought I worked hard in helping him find funding to bring the idea to reality, we were successful. Afterwards, I actually hooked him up with a few people that I thought would really bring his idea to the forefront. All and all the whole experience wasn't easy, but it also wasn't too difficult. To this day I can still remember thinking to myself wow, if this could only be done on a larger scale."

Officially founded in the Fall of 2008, the Established Leaders' Society has already grown to become one of the larger professional organizations at VCU and set to be the largest student run organization at the university by the end of the Spring 2010 semester. Many students and professors are calling it a revolutionary society that will surely boost VCU and its peers to a privileged position of prestige, importance, and acclaim.
