The 1st Annual Lessons From Leaders Forum!!!
Monday, April 5, 2010 at 8:13PM On Wednesday, March 31st 2010 the collaboration of 10 great student organizations and the VCU Business Society became a reality through VCU's 1st Annual Lessons From Leaders Forum. This year's theme was “Perseverance: The Only Safe Ship in a Storm is Leadership” and we were blessed to be engaged by:
Glenn Davis - Founder/CEO of BranCore Technologies
Eric S. Edwards - Co-Founder/Chief Science Officer of Intelliject
John Siddall - Founder/CEO and Chairman of Siddall, Inc.
Nick Abraham - P & C Binding Manager of Markel (Southeast Region)
All moderated by the very talented and insightful David Stirrup of Mutual of Omaha. The event itself was very enjoyable and funny at times, but also very informative and inspiring as each panelist ventured into their pasts to share with us the moments where they met their deepest challenges. In addition, they offered great advice to all of the students in the audience on how to begin a successful career during the current uncertain job market. Finally, a new tradition was born through this event where VCU faculty and staff were awarded for their leadership and service; this year's recipients were Dr. David J. Urban - Grand Leader of the Year and Mr. Doug G. Knapp - Grand Advisor of the Year. The success of this event has ensured that it will become a permanent annual program at VCU, so please by prepared for next year's, which will be held on Monday, April 4th 2011!
